Apatin

Apatin is a town and municipality in the Vojvodina administrative region of Serbia, located in the West Bačka District, at 45°40′N 18°59′E. The town of Apatin is the administrative, economic, cultural, educational and tourist centre of the municipality of Apatin (333 km²). Apatin is situated in the north-western part of the spacious plain in Bačka, on the left side of the Danube. The Danube enters the area of Apatin on the 1409.5 km from its source and leaves it at 1367 km, so that the total length of its section through the Municipality of Apatin is 42 km. The Danube in this sector has a slight decline, which is, from state border to delta of Drava river, 5,71 cm/km (flow rate of Danube through Apatin is 1,5-2,0 m/s).

Water meters altitude near Apatin is 78.81 m above sea level. The average width of the Danube River on Apatin sector is 750 m (with water level of 4,50 m), with an average depth of 15 m. The minimum depth was measured in the old winter port -2.20 m, while the maximum depth measured at Fisherman's headquarters is -32 m). Water temperature values range from a minimum of 0° C (January - March) to a maximum of 25.6° C (in July).

EDUCATION SPECIAL NATURE RESERVE "GORNJE PODUNAVLJE"

International pier and marina "Apatin" offers educational program about Special Nature Reserve “Gornje Podunavlje”, for elementary and high schools students.This program includes presentation and lecture about basic characteristics of reserve and significant flora and fauna species.After that, students can watch a movie about “Gornje Podunavlje” and take a boat ride on the boat “Apatinka”.
